Reduce The Need For Pesticides

Due to the netting forming an excellent barrier, you will not need to use pesticides as often. You will create an organic, eco-friendly approach to cultivating fruit. You will have healthier, chemical-free fruit while improving the environment you live in.

Long-Lasting And Less Maintenance

This strong, high-quality netting will save you money on maintenance and last for a long time. This netting is an excellent investment by reducing losses caused by pests and the use of expensive, dangerous chemicals.

The Different Kinds Of Fruit Netting

Extruded Polyethylene Netting: This is a lightweight, inexpensive netting that's ideal for seasonal or temporary use. It protects against birds and insects but will have to be replaced more frequently than other netting.

Knitted Polyethylene Netting: This netting offers an excellent balance between flexibility and strength. It's resistant to UV damage and will not easily tear. It's a great choice for long-term protection, especially in areas that experience harsh weather conditions.

Nylon or Polyester Netting: For the finest quality of durability and strength, polyester or nylon are at the top of the list. Both of these materials are resistant to wear and tear, making them perfect for permanent installation in commercial orchards.

Installation For Utmost Protection: Before installation, you have to measure the trees and the surrounding area for the netting. Doing so, you will know how much netting will be required and the best way to secure it.

Choose A Strong Support Structure:  It's important that you choose a sturdy support structure to prevent the netting from sagging or tearing. You need to include the size of the tree(s), the frames, poles, and the configuration of the area that will be covered.

Secure The Netting

Make sure the netting is properly attached to the support structure. Do not allow any gaps or loose ends for insects to gain entry. There must be a balance between flexibility and tightness in order for all sections of the tree to move and grow.

Required Access For Maintenance Purposes

During installation, design an area for entry into the garden for maintenance, pruning, and other tasks. Just make sure the opening will close when not in use.

Protecting Your Orchard

As an example, we will assume this is a small orchard with a variety of trees. As the owner of the orchard, your goal is to protect the trees from birds and pull back on the use of chemical pesticides. As the owner, you decide to install fruit tree netting.

Planning And Preparing

You have to assess each tree and plan the layout of the netting and structures You decide to use knitted polyethylene netting because it's durable and UV resistant.

Install The Support Structures

Metal poles are placed around each tree. This forms a frame where the netting will be attached. Make sure the poles are anchored into the ground to withstand wind and other weather conditions.

Place The Netting

Drape the netting over the support structures ensuring it totally covers the trees. Pay attention to the base of each tree and bury the netting into the soil to prevent pests from getting in.

Access And Maintenance

Zippers and ties are worked into the design for access to the trees for pruning, inspections, and harvesting. Regular inspections must be performed to check the condition of the netting and make repairs when needed.
