Hail Netting - An Overview

Hailstorms are usually unpredictable, leaving a path of incredible destruction to crops, plants, and landscapes. Hail netting has been created to protect your property. This netting is made from material designed to cover your crops and plants in case a sudden storm hits. Your investments will remain in excellent condition for a long time. You will not have to run outside in the middle of the night trying to protect your plants.

About Hail Netting

Hail netting is a strong, lightweight material usually made from high-density polyethylene. This fabric absorbs the impact caused by hailstones alleviating damage to plants and landscape. The netting is designed in a mesh pattern so water and air can pass through while creating a shield against hail.

How It Works

Hail netting's effectiveness is in the design. When hailstorms arrive out of nowhere, the mesh absorbs the impact and reduces the force of the hailstones before reaching the ground. The manufacturing technique protects delicate plants and surfaces from breakage, bruising, or other forms of destruction. Hail netting is critical during hailstorms that show up unexpectedly and keep you prepared.

The Benefits Of Netting

The number one benefit is protection for plants and landscape from the force caused by hailstorms. If you have hail netting in place, ahead of time, these storms will not destroy what you have worked so hard to protect.

Enjoy Quality And An Increase in Crop Yield

Farmers and gardeners alike have enjoyed high crop yields and improved quality of their vegetables, fruits, and other produce. Your produce will be more enticing and marketable when on display.

Long-Lasting And Durable

This high-quality netting is UV resistant to keep your produce from degrading caused by the sun. The netting will remain effective and long-lasting over time while protecting your landscape.

The Different Kinds Of Hail Netting

Polyethylene Netting: This is the most popular netting due to its long-lasting strength and low cost. This netting is perfect for a wide variety of applications from gardens to commercial farms.
Aluminum Netting: Aluminum netting is more expensive but will last a long time. It's a chosen product for areas that experience serious hailstorms frequently.
Biodegradable Netting: If you are concerned about the environment, this is for you. This netting is made from natural fibers but is not as long-lasting as synthetic netting. It's a great choice for short-term use and will reduce environmental impact.

Installation Recommendations

Inspect The Site: Before starting your installation project, inspect the area where the netting will be used. You want to determine the best layout and anchoring for the netting. Take into consideration the exposure to wind, the size of the area to be covered, and the kinds of crops or plants to be protected.

Create A Support Structure: Hail netting must have a sturdy support structure to stand up to the weight of hailstones and potential winds. The structures can range from metal or wooden poles for smaller areas or structures that are more complex for larger areas.

Access And Maintenance: You are going to need an entrance for maintenance, harvesting, and possible repairs. It's important to inspect the netting and support structure for wear and tear and make repairs when needed. You need to ensure the protective properties will remain effective.

As an example of practical applications, a homeowner is looking to protect their vegetable patch or flower bed. Chances are, they will choose polyethylene netting because it's durable and low in cost.

The Planning Stage: Start by measuring the area and sketch a simple layout making sure to include the height and types of plants that must be covered. Let's say you choose a wooden support structure, install the support with posts at each corner and other posts along the perimeter of the garden for added stability.

Install The Support Structure: After gathering all the materials you will need, install the wooden posts making sure they are securely in the ground. Horizontal support beams are now added to connect the posts in order to support the netting. Horizontal support beams are now added to connect the posts in order to support the netting.

Install The Netting: Roll out the netting and carefully drape it over the support structure. Ensure the netting is evenly distributed and securely fastened to the support beams and posts using strong clips or ties.

Entry And Maintenance:
When you need to get into the garden, create a simple entry out of netting that can be rolled up and secured. Regular inspections should be carried out to check the netting and the support structure, especially after a serious storm has moved through.
